Recent GrantsHere are some recent grants made by The John R. Oishei Foundation toward the goal of stabilizing neighborhoods in our community:
Buffalo ReUse $200,000
This is an organization offering an alternative to housing demolition and neighborhood rebuilding through deconstruction and community leadership, job training and development. The grant will take the organization from a volunteer model to paid staff while further refining their deconstruction techniques and developing their organizational structure as the foundation for a youth training component and full time retail store.

Habitat for Humanity $158,121
Habitat for Humanity Buffalo has operated for 22 years as a volunteer corps. They have grown to the point of needing to add paid staff for coordination of additional work and to professionalize the operation generally. Request is for support in declining amounts over three years, at which point other fundraising would provide needed funds. This grant is to support the executive director bridge gap.

Harvest House $15,000
Harvest House Ministry Center is located on Jefferson Avenue and houses a free clinic and an education center that is currently under development. This grant was to support core operations.

People United for Sustainable Housing $596,000
People for Sustainable Housing, Inc. (P.U.S.H.) works on the West Side with low income residents to develop leadership capacity and rebuild neighborhoods. This is a multi-year grant to increase staff capacity, expand community organizing and leadership development and acquire/rehabilitate properties in a concentrated area.
