- The Western New York Health Risk Assessment
- In 1992, the Western New York Public Health Coalition, consisting of the
Commissioners and Directors of the eight county health departments of WNY
was formed. One of the goals of the Coalition was to identify the health needs of the region, not just individual counties. A decision was made to identify the health behaviors of regional
residents through the development and implementation of a regional adult behavioral health risk assessment.
- Every Breath We Take
- UB Regional Institute: The region’s air is cleaner now than in decades past, but certain measures of air quality highlight ongoing problems that affect public health and quality of life. Current state and local initiatives can be broadened, positioning New York to lead national and global air quality efforts.
- One Friday, Four Futures Initiative
- The Community Health Foundation of Western and Central New York in conjunction with The John R. Oishei Foundation, the P2 Collaborative of Western New York and the University at Buffalo Regional Institute today launched One Friday, Four Futures, an initiative that utilizes scenario planning to seek community input on what the region’s health care system might look like in the future.
- Designed for Disease: The Link Between Local Food Environments and Obesity and Diabetes
- UCLA Center for Health Policy Research:Examines the link between a community's retail food environment — the ratio of fast-food outlets and convenience stores to grocery stores and produce vendors, with income level as a factor — and the prevalence of adult obesity and diabetes.
