Buffalo City Mission

"Since our opening in 1917 our economy has seen many times of boom and bust and as we prepared for this economic slowdown we reminded ourselves that the Buffalo City Mission’s vision is to restore hope to the homeless and hurting of Western New York through the provision of emergency and long-term recovery services to the many men, women and children that come through our doors each day.

This past fall and winter brought many new faces to our doors in need of shelter and food with shelter needs up 38% and food needs up 17%. We emptied our Food Pantry three times during the winter, but through community food drives were able to restock quickly.

Financial donations, as a total, are down; however we have not had to cut any programs, because our highly skilled staff built new efficiencies into their daily operations."
