Creating Assets, Savings & Hope

"As a result of the current economic crisis, we are seeing increasing numbers of “missing class” families (i.e., families that were earning enough to get by week to week who are not identified as being “poor” by federal standards) coming in for assistance.

Based on conversations in our free tax prep sites, heads of household have lost their jobs or have seen a reduction in their hours in many cases, which forces them to avail themselves of services they have never used or qualified for in the past. They don’t know about the various economic supports to which they are eligible or where to turn for financial and other forms of assistance.

By linking these households with appropriate services, CASH and its partner agencies are  working to help them stem the tide while strategizing with them about how they might increase their financial stability over the long haul. "
